31 years ago today, legendary slain rapper & songwriter Sidhu Moose Wala was born in Mansa, Punjab. The revered Punjabi emcee, who rose to prominence after releasing cult Indian records including “Moosetape”, “PBX 1” and “No Name”, was born on June 11th, 1993 and is often considered one of the greatest rappers in Indian music history.

As reported last year on his 30th birthday, Moose Wala was further considered the voice of an unheard generation. Making his debut at a time when Punjabi rap music was mired by commercial music and unnerving themes of female galore, sex and self-absorbing flexes, Moose Wala breathed pure confidence into the often overlooked sub-genre.

For many, Moose Wala was one of the very few Indian rappers to further Nipsey Hussle & Tupac Shakur‘s global Hip-Hop imprint with profound authenticity.

However, Moose Wala’s historic career came to an end with his brutal killing in Punjab two years ago.

Ever since his death Moose Wala has released six massive posthumous rap records – “410” alongside Sunny Malton, “Drippy” featuring breakthrough Canadian emcee AR Paisley“Watch Out” featuring Sikander Kahlon“Chorni” alongside Indian rap royalty Divine“Mera Na” featuring Burna Boy and “Vaar”.

Rest in Peace, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu.
