Haryanvi rap superstar MC Square, born Abhishek Baisla, has made his massive Def Jam Recordings India debut with a new single. Titled “Gurjari”, the immersive rap record, which draws influence from Haryanvi folk and rock, is produced by marquee British record producers and songwriters Alan Sampson and ADP.
Notably, “Gurjari” is Square’s 8th massive single this year and serves as the follow-up to his flagrant Haryanvi rap single “Mashooka”.
For Indian rap music, “Gurjari” is the second massive Haryanvi record in as many days. Yesterday, Badshah linked up with Haryanvi singer Uchana Amit on “Koi Na” single.
Ahead of the single, MC Square shared the exclusive “Gurjari” artwork with his fans via Meta. Check it out below.
For Def Jam Recordings India, the hard-hitting folk rap record marks its unprecedented foray into rap music across India.
While the label linked up with Malayali rap royalties ThirumaLi, Dabzee, Fejo & Thudwiser on “Sambar” in November, it further released “Kheench Maari” – the lead single from Raga & another rising Haryanvi emcee DG Immortals’ forthcoming EP “Midtown Madness”.
