British Gambian emcee Pa Salieu has premiered two massive freestyles. Titled “Epiphany” and “Crash”, the flagrant singles serve as the follow-up to Salieu’s “Belly” record last month which celebrated the return of the breakthrough emcee after serving 22 months in prison.
Across the conscious freestyles, Salieu expresses concerns over the infamous Gambian poverty in Britain and aims at the politicians.
“We don’t inherit the lands, we borrow it from our children
We can live in peace, when we learn how to understand
We can only fly, when we learn how to lift each other
They’ll be no more ego, when we learn how to take the truth
Take away the evil politician, no corruption
We don’t want war but they searching how to make war
When you put the people in poverty, they be violent
Of course when you corner the dog, it turn savage,” Salieu raps on “Epiphay” produced by Felix Joseph and AOD.
In “Crash”, a “corrupt” Salieu seeks forgiveness and finds catharsis through evocative lyricism for catharsis. The “Send Them To Coventry” emcee further opens up about his controversial past as a drug dealer in Britain and reminisces about its lethal fallout amongst the British youth.
“Many men bleed, may the Lord forgive me
Any pain that’s given, I probably deserve it
All the drugs I’ve sold, divided a family
Even though I walk with the right intentions
The lord will not favour the man of corruption
But I still try heart full of kindness
Never been perfect, I pray for more guidance
So much in my mind, make me see plenty,” the Gambian rapper states.
