Jamaican emcee and songwriter Popcaan – real name Andrae Hugh Sutherland – has confirmed a collaborative effort with Hip-Hop superstar and OVO bossman Drake. Titled ‘We Caa Done’, the track is slated to drop on January 6th 2023 alongside a visual treatment reportedly directed by the ‘Toosie Slide’ rap filmmaker Theo Skudra.
Skudra is behind some of the most influential music videos for Champagne Papi including ‘Sticky’ featuring Virgil Abloh’s Project MAYBACH, Dark Lane Memo Tapes‘ closing rap record ‘War’, ‘When To Say When & Chicago Freestyle’, ‘Money In The Grave’ featuring Maybach Music Group bossman Rick Ross, ‘What’s Next’, ‘Nonstop’ and more.
Earlier today, Popcaan took to Twitter and previewed his third collaboration with the Her Loss rapper. Check it out below.
An OVO signee, Popcaan has collaborated with Drake twice in the past. ‘We Caa Done’ follows Twist & Turn (with PARTYNEXTDOOR) and All I Need, two of the biggest rap records from his fourth studio album, FIXTAPE besides ‘Suh Me Love It’ featuring Jada Kingdom and ‘Fresh Polo’ featuring Stylo G and Dane Ray.
The track comes just ahead of the Unruly Boss‘ fifth LP Great Is He. The record, formerly slated to drop in December last year but was pushed at the last minute, will feature the upcoming track with Drake. However, whether the long-awaited LP will feature Popcaan’s releases ‘Skeleton Carti’, ‘Next To Me’ and ‘Set It’ leading to the LP remains to be seen.
Earlier this week, the ‘Money Speak’ emcee revealed the Marcus Gravy-inspired album’s artwork via Twitter. “New year, new Gear, new blessings, new money, new music! #GIHE,” Popcaan wrote. Check it out below.
Look out for ‘We Caa Done’ by Popcaan & Drake on January 6th.
