Divine Features on The Iconic ‘Hot 97 Radio Station’ in NY

In a first for Indian rap, Hip-Hop superstar and Gully Gang bossman Divine made a stop at the Hot 97 podcast in New York. Recorded just ahead of his third LP ‘Gunehgar’, the iconic rapper spoke to Mia Belle about “his childhood, his introduction to Hip Hop, and meeting Nas”. 

New York’s 97.1 FM, Hot 97 is Hip-Hop’s legendary radio station located in Hudson Square, Manhattan. Established as W2XWG in 1939, the Hot 97 radio station has influenced Hip-Hop culture and laid one of the earliest foundations for ‘radio plays’. The station gave rise to Hip-Hop pioneers including the legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex and featured Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye West, A$ap Rocky, Roddy Ricch and more.

Divine spoke at length about his music, Hip-Hop, his life growing up and women in Indian Hip-Hop during the wide-ranging conversation.
