Frankfurt-born legendary emcee, lyricist and record producer J. Cole – real name Jermaine Lamarr Cole – has set the anticipation for his seventh studio album at an all-time high with a new rap record. Titled ‘Procrastination’, the single arrives after J. Cole teased his upcoming LP and the follow-up to his multi-platinum top-selling rap album ‘It’s A Boy’.
Notably, J. Cole wrote and dropped hard-hitting bars on ‘Procrastination’ after he discovered a ‘J. Cole type beat ‘ on YouTube and later went on to ask the Brooklyn, New York-based record producer Bvtman to release the single on his YouTube channel. Cole also left an affecting message for “every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world”.
“This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you note to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world. It’s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching for something every day to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.
On a day when I couldn’t find much motivation, I was looking for anything to inspire me. Out of curiosity, I typed in “J. Cole type beat” into YouTube. Yours was the first one I saw. I pressed play, focused, and wrote this.
This is some shit that would normally stay in the vault, but I don’t want to hold onto the music like that no more. This is for you and whoever else needs to hear it. God bless bro and keep doing what you do!” Cole wrote to the young record producer.
Bvtman later responded by uploading the record with J. Cole’s verses on his YouTube channel and left a message to J. Cole and his listeners on IG.
“If you know me you know what this post means to me & what this song means to me. If you know me you know this is my peace finally, my dream. Much love to Dreamville & J. Cole & Ibrahim H.… It’s crazy how this happened. Randomly driving on the high with my shorty and I get a text from Ibrahim H, saying Cole fuccs with my beats. I almost ain’t believe this was real life…. But it is..
@realcoleworld – procrastination (broke)
Out now on my youtube..” he wrote.

‘Procrastination’ arrives amidst burgeoning rumours about J. Cole’s upcoming studio album ‘It’s A Boy’. The new LP by the ‘No Role Modelz’ rapper will precede ‘The Fall Off’ – another LP confirmed by J. Cole as part of the “The Fall Off Era”. Last year, the Dreamville bossman had shared what seemed to be a blueprint for a slew of projects underway for release. The Off Season, as per J. Cole, was the beginning of the “era”.
