As Hip-Hop continues to express concerns over emcees, record producers and rap artists being assaulted and even murdered across the globe, the legendary Philadelphia-born DJ and record producer DJ Drama, real name Tyree Cinque Simmons has reportedly been robbed in Toronto following a violent altercation.
Drama, who is recognised across the globe for his historic “Gangsta Grillz” mixtape series, was allegedly assaulted by “Drake’s fans” in Toronto, Canada.
The Generation Now co-founder DJ Drama had his fair share of controversy over 8 years ago after he reportedly informed Meek Mill of ghostwriting practices by Drake. It later evolved into an infamous beef between the former Roc Nation affiliate and the legendary Toronto-bred emcee.
In a video which has surfaced online since the incident, the robbers can be seen donning Drama’s icy chain and giving a shoutout to Drake. Watch it below.
Tupac Shakur, XXXtentacion, Nipsey Hussle and most recently Sidhu Moose Wala are some of the towering Hip-Hop artists that the world has lost owing to systemic violence against rap artists.
The robbery and the violent altercation arrive amidst a concerning rise in violence against Hip-Hop artists across the globe. Over the years, numerous Hip-Hop pioneers have been either assaulted or killed in frequent shootings and robberies.
Drama is yet to speak on the incident.
