ASAP Rocky Remembers Tupac, DMX, Nipsey Hussle & More on ‘Same Problems?’ F/ Lil Yachty

Harlem’s Lord Flacko – a.k.a ASAP Rocky – has released the lead single from his long-awaited fourth rap record Don’t Be Dumb. Titled ‘Same Problems?’, the track is produced by Rocky himself and was first premiered during his Amazon Music Live Concert. The official release features immersive vocals and ad-libs by Miguel and the ‘Let’s Start Here’ rapper Lil Yachty.

Notably, ‘Same Problems?’ arrives on the eighth anniversary of ASAP Yams’ death. The influential rap figure and an ASAP Mob member, Yams passed away at just 26 following a fatal drug overdose. ASAP Mob is one of the earliest Hip-Hop collectives from Harlem, New York which consists of rappers and record producers including Rocky, Yams, ASAP Ferg and Playboi Carti.

The ‘Long Live ASAP’ rapper premiered the track on the same night he announced his fourth album. Performing an exclusive live set hosted by the legendary 2 Chainz, the emcee pressed that his “Album finished.” and asked his critics to “Don’t Be Dumb. Rocky then premiered ‘Same Problems?’ in which he remembered rap’s late figures who were either fatally shot or succumbed to drug overdoses.

“You gotta know that we the highest statistic of losing people,” Rocky said. “No other genre loses rockstars, pop singers, and country artists. Hip-hoppers, we get killed and shot every day. Overdoses, all types of unfortunate events. So this song is dedicated to everybody we lost and anybody who ever lost somebody.” Rocky said during his Amazon Music Live set in December last year.

A$ap then went on to remember Takeoff, DMX, Drakeo the Ruler, Juice WRLD, King Von, Lil Keed, the Notorious B.I.G., PNB Rock, Trouble, XXXTentacion, Slim 400, ASAP Yams, Fredo Santana, Bankroll Fresh, 2Pac, Pop Smoke, Young Dolph, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller, MF Doom, Ricky Black, and Adrian Duke Mayers on the preview.
