The iconic Long Beach, California emcee and old-school rap pioneer Snoop Dogg – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. – has made a profound impact on hip-hop as an artform for decades. Now, Snoop Dogg’s life is slated to make an appearance on the big screen. Directed by the legendary film maker Allen Hughes, the biopic is produced by Snoop Dogg’s very own Death Row and Universal Pictures.
Allen Hughes has directed the critically acclaimed ‘Menace II Society’ which showcases street activities in Watts & Crenshaw neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
“Snoop Dogg is one of the most internationally beloved figures in Hip Hop. There’s just something about his energy that brings people of all walks of life together. Snoop Dogg, not just the artist, but the man and his brand, has transcended generations with his connection and appeal to audiences.” Hughes said about the ‘Doggystyle’ emcee.
“His story is so authentic and utterly inspiring, and to have the opportunity to tell his story allows me to go back to the hood 30 years after Menace II Society, and say more now than I could then.”
