Punjabi Hip-Hop/Rap and Pop’s influential artist AP Dhillon, real name Amritpal Singh Dhillon, has finally announced his new single. Titled “Sleepless”, the record arrives within a day after Dhillon previewed new music on his social media. Reportedly, “Sleepless” is slated to release on July 14th, 2023.
“Sleepless” might feature a guest verse by Shinda Kahlon too. While Dhillon previewed the record’s studio session yesterday, he has now shared an exclusive preview of the visual treatment. Check it out here.
Notably, the “Sleepless” music video is directed by Hip-Hop’s coveted filmmaker Spike Jordan.
The young American filmmaker is recognised for some of the most influential rap music videos of our times including “idk anymore” by Gunna from the “a Gift & a Curse” LP, “Lord Knows” by Meek Mill, “Wave Gods” by Nas, A$ap Rocky & DJ Premier, “Drip Too Hard” by Gunna & Lil Baby and more.
As reported earlier, Dhillon’s announcement arrives amidst another massive confirmation of a new album. Earlier today, Punjabi Hip-Hop superstar Karan Aujla announced his long-awaited album with Ikky. Titled “Making Memories”, the album is slated to drop on August 18th this year.
Dhillon’s single arrives amidst an unprecedented rise in his stature across the globe. While the “GOAT” returned with “True Stories”, AP will be performing his debut headlining set alongside Don Toliver later this month.
Reportedly, Dhillon and Toliver will join forces with marquee Punjabi Hip-Hop artists and superproducers including Intense, Ikky, Boi1-Da, Inderpal Moga, Chani Nattan, Sunny Malton and Jassa Dhillon at the “Summerhigh Fest”.
Not just AP, the rest of his “Brown Munde” crew is making major waves in Punjabi rap across continents. Earlier this year, Gurinder Gill, oftentimes referred to as GG, released his massive debut album “Hard Choices”.
Whether GG will drop a surprise performance at the “Summerhigh Fest” remains to be seen.
