Indian Hip-Hop’s ferocious emcees Gravity, Farhan Khan and Shaikhspeare have linked up on a provocative cypher. Aptly titled ‘Godfather’, the three emcees and record producers drop straight bars and honour gangsta old-school rap at the highest level. The hard-hitting cypher is curated by India’s historic Hip-Hop collective Bombay Lokal.
Notably, Gravity, Khan and Shaikhspeare linked up for an original bass-heavy rap record ‘Godfather’ last year. Released alongside stunning visuals, which felt straight out of ‘Django Unchained’ motion picture, the almost three-minute single paved the path for three influential rap stars on the come-up.
A year later, the three emcees link up for a flagrant avant-garde return amidst garnering unprecedented influence over Indian rap music.
Bombay Lokal is a far-reaching consortium of at least 12 emcees, record producers, beatboxers, B-boys, graffiti artists and DJs. Established in 2017 in Mumbai’s northern suburbs of Vasai, Nalasopara and Virar, the rap collective is home to marquee Hip-Hop artists including Gravity, Farhan Khan, Shaikshpeare, D-Cypher, Beat Raw, Alchemy, Rhymix, Mooz, Roro, Y-Ash, AL. Husxain, The Poet Muse and Last King.
The ‘Godfather’ cypher is a timeless reaffirmation of Shaikhspeare, Gravity and Farhan Khan‘s immense lyrical prowess and asserts their massive influence on Indian rap music.

Shaikspeare is fresh off a dope rap record ‘Wassup’. Produced by Flamboy Beatz, the single parallels affecting street rap classics alongside Cali-based emcee AKB. In March, Khan linked up with Gully Gang‘s prolific rapper Sammohit on ‘Meherban’. The unapologetic rap record is a convincing lexicon of Khan’s thoughtful street knowledge and Sammohit’s ruthless bars influenced by Gully Gang’s ever-expanding influence on Indian rap music.
MTV Hustle’s former top contender Gravity has been consistently dropping new music. After releasing a top-selling ‘Malaal’ EP and Outfly-produced single ‘Robbery’ alongside Muhfaad, the young pioneer linked up with the influential record producer on ‘PS2’.
