Amidst a meteoric breakthrough rise in the popularity of “Maharani”, Delhi’s rising emcee, songwriter and singer Karun has premiered the massive visual cut of the sprawling rap record.
The track, which was first released on December 16th 2021 and later appeared on Karun’s breakthrough R&B & Hip-Hop LP “Qabool Hai”, features guest verses by Foosie Gang affiliate Arpit Bala and rising underground emcee Revo Lekhak.
Produced by Lambo Drive, the track’s music video further features an appearance by Chaar Diwaari, Faizan Rahman, Lil Kabeer, Nanku & more.
While the track was released over two years ago, “Maharani” disrupted social media in the past few weeks and has broken into various streaming platforms. Most notably, “Maharani” peaked at the 13th spot on Spotify’s “Viral Songs Global” charts.
“Maharani” is the second such breakthrough by an emcee from Northern India. Last year, Haryana-bred emcee and record producer DG Immortals broke into various major charts with his massive rap record “Kaleshi Chori”.
In October, Yo Yo Honey Singh‘s top-selling rap record “Desi Kalakaar” razed through Billboard India Charts and peaked at the 5th spot after its original release in 2014.
Between “Qabool Hai” and the flagrant music video now, which captures Bala, Diwaari & Karun’s affecting humour and audacious hopeless romanticism, the young rapper and singer has dropped “Rescue Mission” EP, “Saugaat” album and a slew of singles.
