Southern India’s lethal emcee and songwriter Baby Jean, real name Habish Rehman, has signed an exclusive record deal with India’s coveted rap record label Mass Appeal India. The young rapper, who is recognised across Southern India for his hard-hitting Hip-Hop and Drill in Malyali vernacular, now joins Mumbai’s rap star Nazz at the Mumbai-based record label.
Baby Jean’s discography is home to two infectious rap records – “Thalakkanam” & Kalla Sha-produced “Bandana”. Notably, Jean is one of the three South Indian Hip-Hop acts to sign to Mass Appeal India. The record label is yet to reveal the other two emcees on its roster.
While Mass Appeal continues to sign rising rap emcees across India, the record label has been releasing back-to-back rap records with some of the most influential rap artists of our times.
Most recently, Mass Appeal India linked up with AP Dhillon‘s Run-Up Records for his sprawling return to Punjabi music. Reportedly, the label inked an exclusive distribution deal for “With You”, “Sleepless” and “True Stories” by Dhillon.
Further, Nazz made his massive major label debut with “Gully Ka Sher”. Besides Nazz, numerous Hip-Hop artists and rap crews including The MVMNT and Yungsta continue to release various rap records through the label.
Notably, KSHMR is gearing up for his debut Indian Hip-Hop LP “Karam” with Mass Appeal India after releasing two lead singles – “Haath Varthi” featuring MC Stan & Phenom and “Bhussi” featuring Seedhe Maut and Karan Kanchan.
Baby Jean is yet to release his debut major label rap record.
