Manhattan, New York City’s iconic rapper and songwriter Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, has just announced her forthcoming single with Megan Thee Stallion. The single, which arrives after a long wait of over three years since Bardi and Stallion first linked up on “WAP”, is titled “Bongos” and releases this Friday.
Notably, Cardi’s sophomore collaboration with Stallion arrives within two days after the “Invasion of Privacy” rapper teased new music on Instagram. In a clip shared by Cardi on Sunday, the hard-hitting emcee can be seen approaching the camera with “Addictive” by Truth Hurts, which further samples a 1981 Bollywood record by legendary Indian singer Mangeshkar, playing in the background.
Earlier today, Cardi shared the exclusive “Bongos” artwork with her fans via X, formerly Twitter.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion linked up on the infectious rap record “WAP” on 7 August 2020. Produced by Ayo The Producer and Keyz, the massive single served as the lead single from Cardi’s forthcoming sophomore album.
Notably, Cardi hasn’t released a full-length rap album in over five years. The rapper dropped her star-studded debut Hip-Hop LP “Invasion of Privacy” in April 2018 leaving fans longing for its sophomore follow-up.
As for Stallion, “WAP” arrived amidst the controversial altercation between her and American rapper Tory Lanez at the time. Last month, Lanez was convicted of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. The Grammy-nominated rapper has been sentenced to 10 years in prison marking an end to an extraordinary rap career.
Look out for “Bongos” by Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion on September 8.
