American rapper, pop singer and songwriter Doja Cat, real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, has drawn massive backlash after the hard-hitting emcee allegedly disrespected her fans on Threads.
The legendary woman artist, who most recently released her flagrant rap record “Attention” and dropped a guest verse on R&B singer SZA’s “Kill Bill”, reportedly told her fans that she “doesn’t love them” after one of her avid listeners pleaded the “Payday” rapper to tell her that ‘she loves her fans’.
The brief exchange, which now stands deleted from Doja’s profile on the platform, led to her fans storming Twitter and Threads, of course, in rebuttal. “I don’t though cuz I don’t even know y’all,” Doja replied to her fan.
In fact, the conversation even got worse after another fan responded that she doesn’t know her in person too yet “supported” Doja “through thick and thin”. “You’d be nothing without us and working at a grocery store,” the fan further said.
In rebuttal, Doja wrote, rather controversially, that no one has “forced you” to listen to her music. “Nobody forced. idk why you’re talking to me like you’re my mother b—- you sound like a crazy person,” Doja said.
The series of posts on Threads have drawn immense criticism against Doja. Her fans have now stormed Twitter signalling “the biggest career downfall in history.”
“The people who buy your music, your tour tickets, the merch .. YOU DEFINITELY do know them. She might have the biggest career downfall in history. It’s sad to watch tbh,” a fan wrote on Twitter.
Another user highlighted how Doja “loved her fans when she wanted them to buy tickets to her show tho”. Another fan even cancelled her tickets, presumably to Doja’s “The Scarlet Tour” with Ice Spice, and later tweeted it. Besides her fans, numerous Doja Cat fan pages have allegedly begun deactivating their accounts across platforms too.
Amidst receiving vehement criticism for her comments over the weekend, Doja is gearing up for her forthcoming studio album. While the Los Angeles-bred rapper continues to remain elusive about the LP release, she confirmed her fourth studio album “First of All” slated to release later this year.
“Its not called hEllMoUth either its called ‘First of All’ and yes I’m announcing the album title right now,” Doja said in July.
Look out for Doja Cat’s upcoming rap album “First of All”.
