Drake Provokes Compton’s Legendary Battle Rapper Geechi Gotti To ‘Rap Battle’ An Indian Emcee

Global Hip-Hop superstar Drake – often referred to as “Champagne Papi” or “the Boy” – has seemingly provoked Geechi Gotti for battle rapping against an Indian emcee. The “Her Loss” emcee, who is fresh off his “gracious return” to live performances through a headlining set at Lollapalooza, Argentina, took notice of “Indian Rap” this morning.

Drake shared an underground Indian Rap Battle via his Instagram story and mentioned Compton’s legendary battle rapper Geechi Gotti. Born Marcus Fantroy, the ferocious emcee “currently has 57 battles catalogued, which total 32,293,443 views” as per Versetracker.

The OVO bossman speculated that Gotti will get “30’d for sure” if he puts him “on the card.” While this comes off as a surprise to Indian Hip-Hop fans across the globe, they have also criticised the Toronto native for being “too sarcastic”. Numerous fans took to Reddit’s Indian rap community r/IndianHipHopHeads to express their concerns about Papi’s comment.

Whether Drake inadvertently hurt Indian rap fans or just playfully tease Gotti remains to be seen. However, the provocation seems to be working. Gotti further reposted the story and asked the ‘Started From The Bottom’ rapper to “set it up”.

“Set it up lol I got something for ccuz,” Gotti wrote.

The development arrives amidst Drake gearing up for new music. Recently, Hip-Hop’s leading publication Hip-Hop N More reported on Drake’s “upcoming work”. However, the announcement doesn’t come from the Boy himself but from 50 Cent.

“I f**k wit Drake he getting ready to come with some hard sh*t. You know the vibes n*gga,” 50 responded to a comment on an IG post by heartofthestreetz. Check it out here if you haven’t yet.

Besides studio time, Drake is also gearing up for far-reaching live sets. The influential emcee is preparing for a massive “It’s All a Blur” tour with 21 Savage & a headlining set at the Dreamville Fest alongside J. Cole.
