Emiway Bantai – real name Bilal Shaikh – has turned 27. The iconic Indian emcee who has solidified his position as one of the finest rappers in India is a Mumbai street legend and is revered by his fans for staying true to where he came from. The maverick emcee has stayed independent throughout his career and his fans take immense pride in that fact. Starting out in 2013, Bantai has progressed massively since then.
Bantai’s earliest records were mired by unmastered and sporadically mixed dubstep raps. However, the ‘Out of Sampark’ rapper gradually shifted towards pure hip-hop and rose to prominence in the Indian hip-hop scene. Notably, Bantai’s career hasn’t been a straight road to massive stardom. Since 2018, the Bengaluru-born lyricist has been involved with beefs and has been subjected to diss rap records. His breakthrough single ‘Samajh Mei Aaya Kya?’ solidified his position as a ferocious emcee who does not fear anyone in the hip-hop scene. The diss track was aimed at Raftaar – one of the biggest hip-hop acts at the time.
Ever since then, Bantai has elevated his sound and stature in the Indian hip-hop scene with every release. In a career spanning almost a decade, the “King of the Streets” has released two LPs – ‘8 Saal’ & ‘Malum Hai Na’ – and two EPs – ‘Monsoon’ and ‘Dhund Ke Dikha’. Presently, the rapper frequently experiments with drill, trap and dubstep to deliver some of the finest records in Indian hip-hop.
