Indian Hip-Hop’s leading emcee, record producer and songwriter Fotty Seven, born Ankit Gudwani, has announced his new single. During a sit down with Rolling Stone India, the “You Know The Drill” emcee confirmed that a new single “Tu Jo Na Hota” is in the works and is slated to release via Def Jam Recordings India.
Notably, Fotty has revealed that the long-awaited record “is not a rap record in the true sense”. “It’s a massive shift for me in terms of musicality and lyricism. It’s a whole other Fotty Seven that you never saw coming,” the rapper said during an interview with India’s prominent music journalist Anurag Thagat.
“I’ve truly challenged myself on this track and built upon my versatility as an artist and a performer. It’s the first time I’ve talked about hopeless romanticism at length,” Fotty added.
The Gurugram-based emcee looks fresher and more confident than ever. Amidst the conversation, Fotty Seven asserted that it’s “time to build a legacy.”
“I’ve been putting in studio time. In and out sessions, hours of writing and just practicing. This is the time for me to build on the legacy. 2023 is full of music. Not just for my fans who have supported me throughout this career but for myself too. I’m tapping into my potential that I didn’t even know I had. Lots of music. Lots of adventure. And hopefully, my first full-length album. All of it begins with my next single with Def Jam India,” Fotty revealed.
Back in February, Fotty Seven surprise dropped the “But I Like It” EP. The five-track compilation of four previously released rap records and the self-titled intro arrived amidst high anticipation by Hip-Hop listeners at the time. For many, the “Asli Independent” emcee is Northern India’s hip-hop pioneer with a far-reaching discography.

Fotty Seven’s new record announcement arrives amidst consistent releases by Def Jam Recordings India. Earlier today, the coveted label linked up with Paradox for “Hasti Rahe Tu”. Serving as the follow-up to his highly anticipated EP’s lead single “Perfy”, the track arrives within a day after Indian rap star Bella announced the “Chemical Reactions” EP with the label.
Earlier this year, Def Jam Recordings India signed Tamil Nadu’s Irfana Hameed and dropped two hard-hitting rap records with Aghor and Ellde Fazilka.
Look out for Fotty Seven’s debut LP and ‘Tu Joh Na Hota’ this year.
