The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has announced its list of nominees for the 53rd Annual Juno Awards. The coveted honour, bestowed upon Canadian artists every year, is slated to go down in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Music Canada on Saturday, March 23 and will be further broadcasted by CBS on March 24th 2024.
This year’s list of nominees is led by marquee Canadian pop & jazz singer Charlotte Cardin with 6 nominations. Further, “Peaches” singer Daniel Caesar leads with five nominations and legendary pop singer Nelly Furtado & Don Dolla’s “Eat Your Man” is nominated for “Dance Recording of The Year” this year.
Besides the major pop superstars, Canadian Academy has nominated Punjabi emcees Karan Aujla and Shubh for “Fan Choice” and “Breakthrough Artist of The Year” categories.
“Hitting the highest spot for a Punjabi artist ever on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, Aujla is also making a name for himself globally combining traditional Punjabi with pop, hip-hop and R&B influences to captivate audiences around the world,” the Canadian Academy noted in its press release.
Further, Atlanta’s superproducer Metro Boomin, Hip-Hop superduo Kaytraminé consisting of Californian record producer Kaytranada and Portland’s hard-hitting emcee Aminé, Top Dawg Entertainment‘s “Slime You Out” singer SZA, and Canadian singer The Weeknd are nominated under notable categories too.
