Atlanta’s iconic record producer Metro Boomin recently appeared on the Full Send podcast to promote his latest LP ‘Heroes & Villains’. Besides speaking on the record, Boomin reminisced about working with the now-incarcerated YSL bossman Young Thug in the early days of their careers.
Man, me and [Young] Thug used to do songs and like, soon as we get done doing it, like this is when we still had CDs, I would burn a CD on the computer and we would go to the club and would take it to the DJ like, ‘Yo, let’s go hear this and see what’s going on,’” Metro Boomin said. “And watch everybody’s reaction, you know, vibe out, throw some money and get everybody hype.”
Notably, before Boomin rose to prominence, he played frequently at the Magic City Strip Club alongside DJ Esco in Atlanta, Georgia. The place is home to leading some of the biggest emcees on a path of success including the multi-platinum rapper Future. DJ Esco & Future spoke at length about the influence of Atlanta’s club culture in this documentary below.
Earlier this month, Metro Boomin released his sophomore LP ‘Heroes & Villains’. The fifteen-track record features guest appearances by John Legend, Future, Chris Brown, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, 21 Savage, Young Nudy, The Weeknd, A$ap Rocky, Takeoff & Gunna. Executive produced by Boomin, the album clocks in at 48 minutes and serves as the follow-up to ‘Not All Heroes Wear Capes’ LP.
Thugger features on Metro Boomin’s sophomore LP Heroes & Villains two times. The iconic emcee led Boomin’s ‘Metro Spider’ and ‘Trance’ alongside Houston’s Travis Scott. Besides the features on the latest LP, Thug has worked with Boomin on ‘Up to Something’, ‘Channel Vintage’, ‘Rich N**** Shit’ and more.
