Nipsey Hussle’s Chains & Clothing stored at the Behring Center, American History Museum

The marathon continues. The late Nipsey Hussle’s chains and blue suit designed by his iconic clothing brand ‘The Marathon’ is stored at Behring Centre, Smithsonian American History Museum for preservation. Hussle’s suit was first featured on DJ Khaled’s “Higher” music video alongside John Legend and continues to be one of the most influential clothing designs in hip-hop.

“Nipsey Hussle’s political ethos was as strong as his rap. Raised in the Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, Grammy Award-winning rapper Nipsey Hussle made his mark through music, activism, and business savvy. As an artist, Hussle’s lyrics painted vivid pictures of West Coast life filled with insights well beyond his years. As an activist, he mentored and inspired a generation to become politically engaged. And as an entrepreneur, he chose to reinvest millions into the streets that raised him. Despite his untimely passing, his spirit of dedication, self-reliance, and community empowerment continues to resonate” the press note at Ray and Dagmar Dolby Hall of American Culture reads.

Efforts to preserve Nipsey Hussle’s influential legacy continue in many forms. In November, Culture Haze reported that SpringHill – a production house founded by the legendary NBA professional Lebron Raymone James Sr. & Maverick Carter – is joining forces with the late Los Angeles, California emcee Nipsey Hussle’s Marathon Films to release “A legendary story that must be told.”

“It’s an incredible honor for SpringHill to have a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” Lebron James said about the collaborative endeavor. “He used his gift to give back to his community and lived what it means to inspire, empower, and uplift others along the way. His words, his ambition, and his actions stick with me to this day as he continues to inspire myself, our company, and people everywhere.”
