Houston’s legendary rapper, record producer and songwriter Travis Scott, Jacques Berman Webster II, has finally released the lead single from his forthcoming studio album “Utopia”. Titled “Kpop”, the hard-hitting single features guest appearances by Bad Bunny and The Weeknd.
The single, which arrives amidst extremely high anticipation for Travis Scott’s “Utopia” Album Concert at the Pyramids of Giza in Cairo, Egypt, is produced by American Hip-Hop superproducers BNYX, Boi-1da, Jahaan Sweet & lllangelo.
While Scott has suggested that “Utopia” takes him “back to the Rodeo days and the Owl Pharaoh days”, “K-Pop” sounds far-fetched from that very sound.
Scott’s earliest mixtapes “Days Like Rodeo” and “Owl Pharaoh” are home to ruthless rap records with distorted baselines including “Don’t Play” featuring British rock band The 1975, “Upper Echelon”, “Uptown” featuring A$ap Ferg and “Skyfall” featuring Young Thug.
Nevertheless, the lead single is certainly one of the biggest rap records this year and draws influence from Bad Bunny‘s affecting Latin sound.
Travis Scott has further confirmed that “K-Pop” will have an exclusive visual treatment too. As per the iconic emcee, the music video premiers tomorrow.
As reported earlier, while the iconic “Astroworld” emcee is gearing up for the historic premiere of his forthcoming LP at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, the Egyptian Syndicate of Musical Professions, Cairo’s crucial public authority overseeing the issuing of permits for concerts, revealed on Tuesday that Scott’s “Utopia” premiere may not happen at all.
However, Travis Scott’s reps and Live Nation have asserted that the Egyptian premiere is still happening. “There have been no changes to Travis Scott’s show in Egypt; any reports to the contrary are false,” the promoter shared in its own statement. We can’t wait to celebrate ‘Utopia’ with you in Egypt!” Live Nation asserted in a statement,” Live Nation said in a statement.
