As the world awaits J. Cole’s seventh studio album, the legendary Frankfurt, Germany-born emcee has linked up with BTS’ rapper of South Korean descent J-Hope. Titled ‘On The Street’, the single is produced by K-Pop’s influential record producer PDogg. Over the years, the young Changwon-born artist has led the production of BTS’ top-selling records including ‘Butter’ feat. Megan Thee Stallion, ‘Dynamite’, ‘Mic Drop’, ‘Not Today’ and more.
Over the years, Hope has repeatedly expressed his admiration for Cole. The Korean rap superstar paid homage to Cole’s debut LP ‘Cole World: The Sideline Story’ on ‘Hip-Hop Phile’ – the 4th record on BTS’ debut studio album ‘Dark & Wild’. Further, ‘Born Sinner’ by BTS samples Cole’s top-selling track ‘Born Sinner’ as well.
J Hope dropped an exclusive preview just ahead of the record’s release. Check it out here.
As for J. Cole, ‘On The Streets’ is one of the numerous announcements and releases this year. Earlier this year, Cole teamed up with Bvtman – an underground record producer from Brooklyn, NY on ‘Procrastination’. Interestingly, Dreamville’s frontman discovered the beat on YouTube and released the single via the producer’s profile on the platform. Cole also left an affecting message for every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world.
