Hanumankind & Kalmi‘s breakthrough rap record “Big Dawgs” has become India’s debut rap record to enter the coveted Billboard Global 200 Charts within its Top 10 tracks.
The flagrant single, which razed through the Billboard Hot 100 charts by moving up 26 places and debuting at the 31st spot last week, has now peaked at the 9th spot on the Global Top 200 charts surpassing “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar and West Coast producer DJ Mustard.
For Hanumankind, the unprecedented recognition arrives within hours after announcing his acting debut with the “Rifle Club” film. As reported earlier, the Malayali “Ayyayyo” rapper is set to play BAFTA-nominated filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap’s son in the forthcoming southern film.
“Big Dawgs” by HMK & Kalmi “blasts 17-9 on the Global 200, as well as 13-8 on Global Excl. U.S. It drew 59.3 million streams (up 15%) and sold 5,000 (up 7%) worldwide in the tracking week, with 45.3 million streams and 2,000 sold outside the U.S.” Billboard reports.
Notably, “Big Dawgs” and “Not Like Us” are the only rap records in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Global 200 listing.
