Indian rap royalty Kr$na, born Krishna Kaul, has finally released his first single this year. Titled “Joota Japani”, the single is produced by Karachi-based Hip-Hop superproducer Umair and samples one of the earliest songs in Hindi Cinema “Mera Joota Hai Japani”.
The sample, which is fixated on a flagrant drill production by Umair, dates back to 1955 and was sung by legendary Bollywood playback singer Mukesh. Notably, this is the second such drill single where Dolla $ign has rapped over a vintage sample of a track.
Recently, Kr$na and his labelmate Raftaar linked up on “Woh Raat” on the rap mogul’s 35th birthday.
Ahead of the single, Kr$na shared the exclusive “Joota Japani” artwork with his fans via Meta. Check it out below.

Notably, Kr$na and Umair have continued to drop flagrant rap records since last year. Besides the latest single, the “Hola Amigo” emcee and the record producer teamed up on “Far From Over” and “Time Will Tell” EPs last year.
As reported earlier, the “Joota Japani” single arrives after massive back-to-back performances by the rapper in the past few months.
While Kr$na shut down the “Great Indian Sneaker Festival” alongside Divine and Seedhe Maut in December, he sat down for an exclusive chat with Prabh Deep and performed with the “Khatta Flow” rappers at last year’s Boiler Room in Mumbai and Delhi.
