Legendary British Grime rapper Skepta, born Joseph Olaitan Adenuga Jr., has finally announced his first studio album in nearly 4 years. Titled “Knife And Fork”, the LP is slated to release this year and will mark the Boy Better Know affiliate’s slight return to rap music amidst high anticipation.
As per Skepta, his 6th studio album is “loading” and its lead single “Gas Me Up (Diligent)” will be released on January 26th.
Upon its release, “Knife And Fork” will serve as the follow-up to his iconic rap LP “Ignorance Is Bliss” and will join a slew of cult grime records “Konnichiwa”, “Doin’ It Again”, “Microphone Champion” and his 2007 debut LP “Greatest Hits”.
While Skepta is yet to reveal the exclusive “Knife And Fork” artwork or a tracklist, the “No Security” rapper made the sprawling announcement via Meta.
“It’s been years since I dropped my last album and I want to thank you for all the love during my hiatus. I’ve seen the messages, tweets and Tik Toks, I’m truly grateful that my music is still resonating with the world, even in my absence,” Skepta wrote via Instagram.
In November, Skepta released his notorious collaborative EP “48 Hours” with underground producer Ryder.
The EP, which caused an unprecedented stir in British rap music after it first surfaced on Soundcloud, is home to Ryder’s “#skeptacore” three-part series titled “#skeptacore pt. 1”, “#skeptacore pt. 2” and “#skeptacore pt. 3” and two new U.K. rap records “All Alone” and “For You” featuring Dré Six.
Besides releasing his 6th studio album, Skepta is set to further headline the “Big Smoke Festival” in July this year.
Look out for Skepta’s 6th studio album ‘Knife And Fork’ this year and its lead single “Gas Me Up (Diligent)” on January 26th.
