South India’s rap pioneer Irfana Hameed has announced her first rap record with Def Jam Recordings India. Titled “Sheila Silk”, the single is slated to release on May 23 and arrives amidst high anticipation for new music by the hard-hitting emcee.
Earlier this year, Hameed became the first woman rapper to be signed by Def Jam Recordings India and entered into an exclusive recording agreement with the highly coveted Hip-Hop label.
The ferocious rapper and songwriter took to social media to reveal “Sheila Silk” cover art alongside a brief preview. You can check it out here.
Recognised for her provocative vocal delivery and hard-hitting rap records including “Southside Menace”, “I’m Your King” and her debut “Ko-Lab” EP, Hameed was one of the earliest emcees to drop a record with Found Out Records – Universal Music India’s homegrown rap incubator which strives to encourage underground emcees and record producers across India.
