When Indian Underground Hip-Hop’s tall figure Farhan Khan and Gully Gang’s ferocious emcee Sammohit announced their debut collaborative effort ‘Meherban’, rap listeners across the scene anticipated an extraordinary rap record with Khan’s affecting Urdu poetry and Sammohit’s notorious rhyme schemes. The young artists didn’t disappoint.
Khan and Sammohit have released the long-awaited single alongside a hard-hitting visual treatment. With Mr Doss leading the production, as he has on Khan’s recent single ‘Platinum’, the visuals capture the young artists taking over Mumbai one verse at a time.
‘Meherban’ is a convincing lexicon of Khan’s thoughtful street knowledge and Sammohit’s ruthless bars influenced by Gully Gang’s ever-expanding ‘touchbase’ (no pun intended, Anjum) on Mumbai streets.

Farhan Khan’s brief yet affecting discography includes classic underground records which put even the biggest rap tracks to test. Some of Khan’s top-selling tracks include ‘Platinum’, ‘Godfather’ alongside Gravity & Shaikhspeare, ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Khansaab’, ‘Galat Launde’ and ‘Raza’ featuring Munawar Faruqui.
Ever since his association with Gully Gang, Sammohit has worked with some of the biggest rappers in India. Notably, the young emcee was featured on three records on the eight-record collaborative project ‘Mass Appeal & Gully Gang: SHUTDOWN’ – the most for any member of the crew.
However, Gully Gang isn’t the only crew that Sammohit has represented at scale. Part of ‘Aavrutti’ alongside Sledge, Saifan and Frenzzy, the rapper released his debut 11-track LP ‘Naya Zamana’ in 2020. Further, Sammohit has collaborated with Team Evo from Dehradun on their hit single ‘Dekh Bete Dekh’ too.
