Kid Cudi Confirms New Music with Young Thug

After a long hiatus that lasted for over two years, Kid Cudi – real name Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi – has been releasing new music, an adult animated music television special and well, another LP. The iconic Cleveland-bred Day ‘N’ Nite emcee and lyricist Cudi released his eighth studio album ‘ENTERGALACTIC’ on September 30th, 2022. Released alongside its visual adaptation into a Netflix animated special, the 15-track record featured guest appearances by 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign, Don Toliver, Steve Aoki and more.

However, ever since then, Cudi has been hinting at his upcoming new album. While the ‘Do What I Want’ rapper has spoken at length about retiring from music, he has assured the Hip-Hop world that Entergalactic won’t be his last musical endeavour.

After previewing ‘Solo Dolo Pt. 4’ – Cudi’s highly anticipated track and the follow-up to Kid Cudi’s ‘Solo Dolo III’ on Man On the Moon III: The Chosen – with Playboi Carti last month, Cudi has now hinted at two collaborative efforts with YSL’s incarcerated bossman Young Thug. However, Cudi has confirmed that just one of those tracks is slated to be a part of the LP.

“I got 2 songs w Thug I did last year. 1 of them goin on the new album the other he’ll use. These songs are fuckin INSANE. Im tellin u. U have no idea” Cudi wrote in a recent tweet.

After the release of Entergalactic, Cudi hinted at another hiatus and a possible retirement in an interview with Zane Lowe.

“The Kid Cudi stuff, I think I want to put it on the back burner and chill out with that. I think, I want to be done with it. I think, closing the chapter on Kid Cudi,” he said. “…But, as far as getting in the studio and working on an album, and then going and touring it, I just don’t have it in me. I don’t have the desire. I have so many other things I want to invest my time into,” the rapper had revealed during the Zane Lowe interview.

However, Cudi took his words back and announced that he is “doing one album” and then he is “done”.

“Im doin 1 more album and then im done w my deal and not sure what ima do after that but yea, 1 more. Wont be next year. Keep u posted.” Cudi tweeted.

The rapper further said that the new project is for his “fans that have been ridin w me (Cudi) for so long.”

Notably, this isn’t the first time that Cudi & Thugger will be joining hands for new music.

Cudi was featured on ‘Moon Man’ – the nineteenth track on Young Stoner Life’s iconic Hip-Hop record ‘Slime Language Two’. Released on April 16th 2021, the LP featured guest appearances from Yak Gotti, Lil Duke, Travis Scott, Drake, Lil Baby, Lil Uzi Vert, YSL’s late rapper Lil Keed, Big Sean, Nav, Skepta, Future, YNW Melly, Kid Cudi, Meek Mill, DaBaby, Don Toliver and more.
