Latto Becomes The First Rapper With A No. 1 Song on Billboard Hot 100 This Year

American rapper and songwriter Latto, real name Alyssa Michelle Stephens, has become the first rapper to have a top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. ‘Big Latto’, who recently linked up on “Seven” with BTS’ Jung Kook, razed through the Billboard chart to sit at the top spot owing to the fiery collaboration.

Notably, Latto won the BET Hip-Hop Award for “Best Woman Hip-Hop Artist” this year too. Besides the “Put it on Da Floor” rapper, Gunna’s sprawling hit “fukumean” from “A Gift & A Curse” stays firm at the 6th spot.

2023 has been a rather rough year for Hip-Hop. Ever since the beginning of this year, Lil Uzi Vert‘s “Pink Tape” LP is the only Hip-Hop record to bag the top spot at the Billboard Top 200. However, even Vert couldn’t get a no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 too.

For many, Travis Scott‘s forthcoming album “Utopia” might pave the way for a slew of chart-topping hits across the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

Most recently, Latto linked up with Jay Rock & Anderson .Paak on “Too Fast (Pull Over)”. Make sure to check it out here if you haven’t yet.
