The marathon continues. The legendary West Coast Hip-Hop emcee Nipsey Hussle has released his influential rap discography on vinyl. The posthumous release arrives just within a month after his chains and blue suit designed by ‘The Marathon’ clothing brand were stored at the Behring Centre, Smithsonian American History Museum for preservation.
Titled ‘Nipsey Hussle Vinyl Collection’, the latest drop includes Hussle’s numerous timeless rap records including ‘Victory Lap’, ‘The Marathon’, ‘The Marathon Continues’, ‘Crenshaw’, Vol. 1, Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 of the ‘Bullets Ain’t Got No Name’ LP series and ‘Slauson Boy 2’.
Hussle was and continues to be one of the most influential figures in global rap. Born on August 15th 1985 in Los Angeles, California, the ‘Victory Lap’ rapper was recognised for his hard-hitting rap records that strived to ‘Hustle & Motivate’. In March 2019, Hussle succumbed to gun wounds after he was fatally shot and killed outside his own clothing store in South LA.
Ever since Hussle’s death, numerous attempts have been made to preserve and showcase his extraordinary rap career and its impact across the globe. Last year, SpringHill – a production house founded by the legendary NBA professional Lebron Raymone James Sr. & Maverick Carter teamed up with Hussle’s very own Marathon Films to release “a legendary story that must be told” on the late rapper.
“It’s an incredible honor for SpringHill to have a part in sharing Nipsey’s story and legacy with the world,” Lebron James said about the collaborative endeavor. “He used his gift to give back to his community and lived what it means to inspire, empower, and uplift others along the way. His words, his ambition, and his actions stick with me to this day as he continues to inspire myself, our company, and people everywhere.”
