New Jersey’s legendary emcee, songwriter and record producer Russ – real name Russell James Vitale – has released his latest single. Titled ‘Can’t Get This Right’, the rap record clocks in at just short of two minutes and a half. Notably, Russ draws inspiration from vintage Indian cinema for his latest effort.
The ‘Bornfire’ emcee has sampled one of the earliest records by the legendary late singer Lata Mangeshkar.
Titled ‘Lag Ja Gale Se Phir’, the iconic record was released in 1964 as part of the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for ‘Woh Kaun Thi?’ and is often considered one of the most influential records in Indian cinema.
Produced by Madan Mohan Kohli and penned down by Indian poet and writer Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Lata Mangeshkar was 35 at the time. She had established her stature as one of the finest melodic singers from the subcontinent.
