American Hip-Hop webcast series Verzuz has made its inroads in India. Founded by legendary American record producers Timbaland and Swizz Beats on March 24th 2020, the show features competitive rap battles amidst some of the most influential Hip-Hop emcees and record producers across generations including Boi-1da vs Hit-Boy, RZA vs DJ Premier, Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott, Scott Storch vs Mannie Fresh and more.
The Indian rendition of Verzuz TV, titled ‘Verzuz Desi’, is slated to kickstart from December 22nd in Delhi, India. For the debut battle, the iconic show has picked MTV Hustle Season Two’s leading faces Gravity and Panther.
Gravity rose to prominence after his ferocious performances at MTV Hustle. The young rapper shocked the MTV Hustle jury and the participants with his hard-hitting voice and stunning deliveries over rap, drill and grime music at the show. The young rapper was also noted for his resemblance with the late New York drill rapper Pop Smoke.
In November, Panther – who rose to prominence after appearing on MTV Hustle 2.0 – released his first record ‘Rukna Nahi Tha’ after MTV Hustle Season Two. Before joining MTV Hustle, Panther had released ‘Gariyaa De’, ‘Pagal Kutte’, ‘Aalas’ and more.
