The late Xxtentacion’s never-before-seen interview with FADER magazine will be releasing on Nov. 22. Titled ‘In His Own Words’, the interview was first recorded in 2017 – a year prior’s to X’s death. He was just 19 years old at the time.
Based out of Florida, Xxxtentacion was recognised the world over for his portrayal of ‘lonely vibes’ through rap. He got first breakthrough through Soundcloud where he had released an unmastered copy of ‘Look At Me’. The single went on to reach No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 that year. The young rapper was shot dead during an armed robbery at RIVA Motorsports, Florida.
X had released some of the biggest hits in hip-hop after blowing up. Known for his short records, the rapper had released his debut studio album ‘Revenge’ in 2017 via EMPIRE. It was followed by ‘17’, ‘?’ And the posthumous ‘SKINS’ through Bad Vibes Forever Records. Various posthumous compilations have been released after his death too. ‘XXTENTACION Presents: Member’s Only, Vol 4’ was released in 2019 to much critical acclaim.
X switched genres across a single record. You could hear the rapper raging on Rock at one record while delivering hard-hitting bare on the other. His second posthumous album ‘Bad Vibes Forever’ had captured this at scale.
