Earlier this week, Indian Hip-Hop superstar Kr$na, born Krishna Kaul, took to Reddit to delve deeper into his sprawling return to rap music.
The legendary emcee, who recently dropped his provocative “FAR FROM OVER” EP, continues to impact Indian rap music through the hard-hitting 5-track project and interacted with his fans exclusively on the platform.
Amidst congratulations pouring in on Dolla Sign One Time, an ardent fan asked the Kalamkaar affiliate about the rising streams on “Prarthana” – the EP’s lead single – and whether the allegations of “fake streams” by a certain faction in Indian rap hold true.
Reportedly, Kr$na has vehemently denied such allegations.
“As far as the streaming question goes, we haven’t deployed any ads or streams on any platform for the release yet. As an artist, I try and concentrate on the process of making music and not get derailed by discussions that are inconsequential to my art. I am always happy to see my songs doing well and that’s where it ends,” Kr$na said during the brief Reddit interaction.
Referring to “Prarthana”, Kr$na asserted that the track has been doing “LEGITIMATE numbers” and feels that “every time he releases something someone tries their hardest to ruin it.”
Further, Kr$na expressed his reservations with the “narrative” that “ads are bad” and in fact called it an “immature one”.
“Ads put you in places where you normally wouldn’t be, and as long as ads are legitimate, they are a great tool, especially for breaking artists. Everything you buy is a product of advertising. If my distribution agency deems Prarthana fit for an official Spotify campaign at any point then I’m most definitely going to stand by their decision and be transparent about it,” the rapper said.

On 29 August, rap royalty Kr$na premiered his star-studded “FAR FROM OVER” EP. Traversing 5 rap records, the EP features provocative guest appearances from Seedhe Maut, Canadian emcee AR Paisley, Delhi’s hard-hitting record producer Bharg and Karachi-bred young producer Umair.
Preceded by the “Time Will Tell” EP released in February this year, the “FAR FROM OVER” EP arrived as a surprise drop too.
