Ahead of ‘The Idol’, The Weeknd Announces New Music F/ Playboi Carti, Madonna, Metro Boomin & Mike Dean

Pop and R&B superstar The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, is gearing up for his new music with Playboi Carti. Reportedly, the “Stop Breathin” emcee, who has kept fans waiting for almost three years now after he released his sophomore LP “Whole Lotta Red” on December 25th 2020, is slated to join The Weeknd ahead of the hotly anticipated “The Idol” premiere on HBO.

In fact, Tesfaye first previewed the record during his appearance at the Cannes Festival in France last week. It was further confirmed by the two artists getting on a Facetime call with each other yesterday. Carti’s collaborative effort arrives amidst Philadelphia’s influential emcee Lil Uzi Vert confirming new music with the “Die Lit” emcee earlier this year.

While The Weeknd fell short of revealing any further details about his debut collaborative effort with Carti yet, as per many, the record might be called “Popular”. Further, the leading Hip-Hop website Genius.com confirms that the track will further feature a guest appearance by Pop superstar Madonna and is produced by Metro Boomin and Mike Dean.

Upon its release, “Popular” will serve as the follow-up to “Double Fantasy” – the lead single to Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Reza Fahim, and Sam Levinson created series’ original soundtrack.

Look out for The Weeknd x Playboi Carti this summer.
