Indian rap superstar MC Stan, born Altaf Shaikh, shut down Hyderabad over the weekend.
During his headlining Zomaland live set, the marquee “P-Town” emcee, record producer and songwriter, who recently linked up with us for an exclusive backstage interview, performed a slew of flagrant rap records including “Nusta Paisa”, “Basti Ka Hasti”, “Haath Varthi”, “Shana Bann”, “Ek Din Pyaar” and more.
Stan’s headlining set in Hyderabad was preceded by his massive NH7 Weekender performance on his turf in December. At the time, Stan performed his fierce rap discography and even teased a debut collaborative effort with Compton’s legendary emcee YG.
Notably, MC Stan’s massive live set arrives ahead of his highly anticipated studio album set to drop this year.
While the Hip-Hop cult figure is yet to reveal any further details about his forthcoming LP, Stan has revealed that his album is well “on its way” and is set to be “deeply experimental”.
Further, Stan has revealed that he has “gathered various people from (Hindi Cinema) industry… actors and celebrities” on his album.
“The album is arriving soon! It’s on the way. I would only say that I’ve done deep experiments on the album. It’s a matter of listening to it just once. Listen to the album once and then decide what do you want to do with it. My most ardent fans will anyway listen to the album, you know what I’m saying, my time baby.
There are deep experiments on my album and I’ve gathered various people from the industry… actors and celebrities. It’s not just rap but various other disruptive things,” Stan said amidst the sprawling conversation.
