Philadelphia’s legendary emcee, record producer and songwriter Lil Uzi Vert, born Symere Bysil Woods, has finally released his highly anticipated third rap album “Pink Tape”.
Featuring guest verses by Hip-Hop superstars Don Toliver, Nicki Minaj, Houston’s Travis Scott, British Rock Band ‘Bring Me The Horizon’ and Japanese Metal Band Babymetal, the hard-hitting rap record arrives after it was announced almost three years ago.
Produced by numerous Hip-Hop and rock producers and composers including BNYX, Bobby Raps, Brandon Finessin, Charlie Handsome, American Metal Band System of a Down‘s Daron Malakian, Don Cannon, Wheezy and more.
Notably, Uzi’s LP features a guest record production from rap superstar and producer Ken Carson too. Reportedly, Carson linked up with producer Clif Shayne for “X2”.
Earlier this week, Lil Uzi Vert linked up with legendary rap filmmaker Gibson Hazard for the “Pink Tape” trailer. The affecting short film, which drew influences from Japan’s animes, confirmed that Uzi Vert will finally release his album on June 30th, 2023.
Uzi’s album arrives after a global anticipation of over three years. First confirmed in 2020, amidst the massive success of his sophomore LP “Eternal Atake” at the time, Uzi refrained from releasing the LP but continued to drop subtle hints.
Uzi dropped a Soundcloud-exclusive EP last year. Aptly titled “Pink + White”, the EP featured hard-hitting records by the Philly rap pioneer – “SPACE CADET”, “I KNOW”, “FLEX UP”, “HITTIN MY SHOULDER”, “CIGARETTE”, “FOR FUN”, “ISSA HIT”, “GLOCK IN MY PURSE” and “FINAL FANTASY”.
Uzi’s move at the time led to widespread speculation about the “Pink Tape” being a ‘Soundcloud Exclusive’ project too.
In January, Uzi confirmed that the “Pink Tape” LP was slated for a February release. However, that didn’t materialise. Notably, in March this year, Vert teased and previewed new music with the “Popular” emcee Playboi Carti. That collab doesn’t feature on “Pink Tape”.
At the time, Uzi’s move stirred unprecedented conversations on social media since the two rappers are reportedly sitting on the “Sixteen X Twenty-Nine” Mixtape which has over 40 unreleased rap records.
Well, Uzi London’s ‘Pink Tape’ is here now.
