Punjab’s leading young emcee on the come-up Tricksingh, born Tirath Sandhu, has made his extraordinary major label debut. The hard-hitting rapper and songwriter, recognised for his affecting rap records “Welcome To Class”, “tricksinghflow” and “Desh Ki Awaaz”, has linked up with India’s highly coveted record label Def Jam Recordings India.
Clocking at just short of three minutes and a half, the hard-hitting record captures tricksingh’s infectious choppa flow inspired by global trap and Punjabi vernacular at the same time. For Trick, the record serves as the follow-up to “5AM in Punjab” released earlier this year.
With “Shor”, Def Jam Recordings India continues to pave the way for young emcees and record producers on the rise.
Across this year, numerous Hip-Hop artists have made their sprawling debuts with the major label including Kodaikanal’s Irfana Hameed, Punjab’s GD 47 and Ellde Fazilka, Thug Sangathan’s Aghor and Delhi’s rap superstar Paradox.
“Shor” is released alongside an infectious visual treatment. Directed by tricksingh’s longtime collaborator Shabad Sarin, the visuals portray Singh’s growing influence on Indian rap music.
