Delhi’s Iconic Punjabi Emcee & Record Producer Prabh Deep Premiers New Single ‘Girgit’

Delhi-based Hip-Hop pioneer Prabhdeep, recognised for vivid experimentation with rap music across his classic discography, has released his sophomore independent single since parting ways with Azadi Records.

The self-produced track “Girgit”, reportedly produced and penned down by Prabh himself, arrives amidst high anticipation for his next full-length independent project. Notably, “Girgit” serves as the follow-up to his ruthless rap record “Thappad!” and seemingly draws inspiration from the “King” EP.

The “King” EP features some of Prabh Deep’s earliest hard-hitting Punjabi rap records including “Amar”, “Maya”, “Hira”, “Khat” and “Kala”. In May, the hard-hitting EP surpassed 10 million digital streams and became Prabh’s first project to achieve this feat after “PRAA”

Whether this will lead to an official compilation LP remains to be seen. However, considering Prabh’s departure from Azadi, it seems far-fetched since the earlier record included in “King” were released by Azadi Records.

“Girgit” and “Thappad!” follow Prabh’s numerous major moves across 2023.

As reported earlier, Prabhdeep linked up with top-selling rap artists including Kalamkaar’s bossman Raftaar, former Azadi Records labelmates Seedhe MautGD 47Ahmer and more on “Bhram Deluxe”.

The hard-hitting LP arrived after Prabh’s debut collaborative effort with Raftaar. Titled “PRAA”, the four-track EP is home to Indian rap classics “Trap Praa”, “Hello”, “Badnaam” and “Abbu”. The EP was followed by Prabhdeep’s avant-garde debut at this year’s Coke Studio Bharat.
