Delhi’s fierce emcee and songwriter Raga, born Ravi Mishra, has released his first project in nearly 5 years. Titled “Midtown Madness”, the debut EP arrives amidst unprecedented anticipation for a project by the marquee rapper and features guest verses by Indian rap pioneer Ikka, DG Immortals and Bandzo3rd.
As reported earlier, Raga’s flagrant “Midtown Madness” EP traverses 4 massive rap records – “Kheench Maari” alongside DG Immortals, “Mastikhor” featuring Ikka, “Sir Kholkar” alongside Bandzo3rd and “Speed 206” featuring another guest verse by DG.
Produced by rising record producers Nitin Randhawa, UZIII, UKato and Jai, Raga’s brief yet affecting gangsta rap record is a provocative concoction of slick bass, trap and lethal East Coast Hip-Hop.
Notably, “Midtown Madness” EP is Raga’s debut EP with Def Jam Recordings India. Besides “Kheench Maari”, the young emcee has released various top-tier records with the coveted record label including “Sheher” and “Badan”.
Besides Raga’s debut collaborative effort with American-Pakistani emcee Bandzo3rd, “Mastikhor” serves as the rapper’s sophomore collaboration with Ikka.
The two previously collaborated on “Sanki” from the veteran rapper’s iconic studio album “Nishu”. The track featured further guest verses by Seedhe Maut and Thug Sangathan affiliate Aghor at the time.
“Midtown Madness” is one of the numerous rap records released by Def Jam Recordings with an emcee from Northern India in the past months.
Besides the latest project, Def Jam has linked up with various Northern rap stars including Chaar Diwaari on his breakthrough single “Jhaag” and “Violence”, “Gurjari” by MC Square, “11:11” by Punjabi emcee GD 47 & Dino James and Fotty Seven’s most recent single “Ok Report”.
