Yesterday, the NFL Super Bowl announced Compton’s legendary emcee and Pulitzer prize-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar as its headliner at the LIX Half-time Show in New Orleans, Louisiana.
While the announcement received praise from Hip-Hop, with Jay-Z giving the “Not Like Us” rapper his flowers, it was mired by criticism by dawn.
The forthcoming performance has highlighted a deep cultural divide in rap music and a massive faction considers it as “disrespect” and “hatred” against legendary New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne.
In a series of tweets, Wayne’s protégé Nicki Minaj expressed her concerns about “denying a young black man what he rightfully put into this game”. The iconic “Pink Friday 2” & “Big Foot” rapper further highlighted Hov & Roc Nation’s “hatred” for herself, Drake and rap mogul Birdman.
Check out Nicki Minaj’s incendiary tweets below.
