Earlier this morning, the MTV Video Music Awards, or VMAs, went down at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The star-studded ceremony, which witnessed a slew of performances by some of the most influential Hip-Hop artists of our times including Lil Wayne, Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, LL Cool J, Run-DMC and more, celebrates and honours the biggest music videos and the artists behind them.

While the VMAs honoured Hip-Hop amidst its 50th anniversary, women were the sole ones in charge of leading the pack of winners this year. Whether it was Taylor Swift’s massive wins across 9 categories or Ice Spice’s “Best Artist of The Year”, the VMAs were dominated by women artists along similar lines of the BET Awards 2023 earlier this year.
