Punjabi Hip-Hop/Rap and R&B pioneer Karan Aujla’s massive pop album “Making Memories” has just debuted on the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart. The album, which was first released in August, razes through the coveted Billboard chart at the 5th spot – the highest spot by an Indian album this year.
Notably, Aujla’s historic feat arrives within days after the album’s lead single “Admirin’ You” debuted at the 29th spot on Billboard Hot 100 Canada. At the time, Aujla replaced Travis Scott‘s massive rap record “K-Pop” single featuring Latin rap superstar Bad Bunny and legendary Pop and R&B emcee The Weeknd.
Notably, “K-Pop” served as the lead single to Scott’s most recent rap LP “Utopia”.
Aujla’s sprawling record is one of the numerous Punjabi albums and singles charting at the Billboard Canadian Charts. Besides the “Making Memories” album and “Admirin’ You”, Divine and Sidhu Moose Wala’s hard-hitting posthumous single “Chorni” debuted at the Billboard Hot 100 Canada chart at the 27th spot.
“Chorni” was preceded by Shubh debuting his sprawling hit record “Still Rollin” on the Hot 100 chart at the 40th spot. At the time, the track surpassed major label releases including “America Has A Problem (Remix)” by Beyoncé & Kendrick Lamar, “War Bout It” by Lil Durk & 21 Savage and more.
Released on August 18th, Karan Aujla’s “Making Memories” is Karan Aujla’s sophomore pop record. Executive produced by Punjabi Hip-Hop superproducer Ikky, the long-awaited album features guest appearances by young Toronto-bred pop singer Preston Pablo and New York-based singer Yarah.
traverses nine evocative Punjabi pop records – “Girl, I Love You (Euro’s Intro)”, “What…?”, “Jee Ni Lagda”, “Try Me”, “Champion’s Anthem”, “Softly”, “You”, “Bachke Bachke” featuring Yarah and its lead single “Admirin’ You” featuring Preston Pablo.
