Houston’s hard-hitting rapper, record producer and songwriter Travis Scott, born Jacques Bermon Webster II, is set to make unprecedented moves on the Billboard Album Charts across the globe.
La Flame, who recently released his massive rap record “Utopia”, has debuted at the top spot on the U.K. Charts and is projected to snag his first Billboard Top 200 Album further this year.
Notably, Travis Scott’s historic Hip-Hop LP, which has reportedly moved almost half a million copies across the globe, will be his first album to hit the top spot on the Billboard Charts and the first Hip-Hop rap record at the Top 200 this year.
For its top spot in the U.K., Scott’s LP competed with numerous top-selling Rap and Pop records including Anne-Marie’s “Unhealthy”.
Earlier this year, U.K. Rap superstar Central Cee scored his first U.K. Top 100 single with “Sprinter” from the “Split Decision” EP alongside Dave. The track, which competed with J Hus & Drake‘s incendiary collaborative effort “Who Told You?”, continues to raze through the U.K. Billboard Top 100 to this day.
As per Billboard, Scott’s latest rap LP initially competed with Post Malone’s “Austin” album. However, Scott has now surpassed Malone by over 375k album units and has sold 485k copies in its first week.
In fact, Scott’s fourth studio album has become the biggest Hip-Hop album this year after leaving behind Lil Uzi Vert‘s sprawling rap LP “The Pink Tape” and Young Thug’s “Business is Business”. Scott was featured on both of these flagrant rap albums.
Important to note here is that the “announcement of the top 10 of the Billboard 200” was delayed due to a processing issue.
Most recently, Kenya’s influential emcee, record producer and songwriter Mark Makora Mbogo, or Kaycyy called out Scott for not crediting him on “Utopia”. While Scott originally released his most recent LP with no credits, the rapper later updated his star-studded album with every guest appearance except KayCyy’s.
The rapper, who was jolted by Scott’s decision to not credit him on the Kanye West-produced single “THANK GOD”, took to Twitter after fans called out the ‘Circus Maximus’ rapper for leaving KayCyy out.
As reported earlier, Scott released his first rap record in five years “Utopia” on July 28th 2023. The 19-track LP clocks in at an hour and 14 minutes and features guest appearances from some of the finest artists of our times.
Beyoncé appears on “Delresto (Echoes)”, “FE!N” features Playboi Carti & Scott’s Cactus Jack affiliate Sheck Wes, “Meltdown” features Drake, “Lost Forever” features vocals flagrant by Westside Gunn & James Blake, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Sampha appear on “My Eyes” and “Looove” features Louis Vuitton’s rap royalties Pharrell Williams & Kid Cudi.
Scott is now gearing up for Utopia’s historic live premiere at Rome’s Circus Maximus after the historic LP premiere at the Pyramids of Giza was cancelled.
