KayCyy Releases New Single ‘My Jeans’, Calls Out Travis Scott For Not Crediting Him on A Kanye West Song on ‘Utopia’

Nairobi, Kenya-born emcee, record producer and songwriter Mark Makora Mbogo, or Kaycyy, has returned with a new rap record. Titled “My Jeans”, the single is produced by Mike Wavvs & Ervin Garcia and arrives amidst the rapper’s massive frustration with Travis Scott for not crediting him on “Utopia”.

Reportedly, the Houston-born emcee, who recently released his historic rap album “Utopia”, failed to credit KayCyy, who is often recognised for his major contributions to Kanye West’s “Donda” LP.

While the track will supposedly appear on KayCyy’s forthcoming 7th mixtape “Never Been So Sure” and seems harmless on the surface, the record’s artwork is the young emcee’s assertion of his influential stature in rap music. Further, the track directly references Travis Scott.

“I Ain’t No Background Singer” the artwork reads aiming directly at Scott.

Reportedly, Scott originally released his most recent LP with no credits, However, the rapper updated his star-studded album with every guest appearance except KayCyy’s.

The rapper, who was jolted by Scott’s decision to not credit him on the Kanye West-produced single “THANK GOD”, took to Twitter after fans called out the ‘Circus Maximus’ rapper for leaving KayCyy out.

“I ain’t no background singer. F— Trav!” Kaycyy wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Scott is yet to respond or credit KayCyy’s feature on the album.

On July 28th 2023, Scott released his first rap record in five years.

Titled “Utopia”, the 19-track LP clocks in at an hour and 14 minutes and features guest appearances from some of the finest artists of our times.

Beyoncé appears on “Delresto (Echoes)”, “FE!N” features Playboi Carti & Scott’s Cactus Jack affiliate Sheck Wes, “Meltdown” features Drake, “Lost Forever” features vocals flagrant by Westside Gunn & James Blake, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Sampha appear on “My Eyes” and “Looove” features Louis Vuitton’s rap royalties Pharrell Williams & Kid Cudi.
