Wazir Patar Returns To Signature Gangsta Rap With ‘Back To Skool’ EP, Drops Friday

Punjabi gangsta rap pioneer and the former protégé of Sidhu Moose Wala Wazir Patar is gearing up for his next EP. Titled “Back To School”, the five-track project is slated to drop on May 12th 2023. Notably, the long-awaited EP is entirely produced by Patar and arrives after the “Keep It Gangsta” EP released last year.

Releasing through Punjabi Hip-Hop & Pop’s highly coveted label Speed Records, Patar has confirmed five new tracks through the EP – “Hustle Evuryday”, “Bold and Brave”, “Husan Illahi”, “Ind Suzuki” and “Email”.

Ahead of the EP‘s release, Patar shared an exclusive preview of the project. The clip, which features a montage of Patar’s cult visuals over the years, suggests that Patar is gearing up for a solid return to his signature gangsta rap sound. Check it out below.

Notably, Patar announced the EP minutes after Moosa announced his third posthumous single “Mera Na” with Steel Banglez.

For many, Patar is one of the most prolific Punjabi Hip-Hop artists on the come-up and has released incendiary rap records including “Keep It Gangsta” EP with Def Jam Recordings India and a slew of hard-hitting tracks with Sidhu Moosewala including “The Last Ride”, “Malwa Block” and “GOAT”.

In January this year, Patar released the “Some Memories” EP. A massive departure from his signature gangsta rap, the four-track project captured Patar’s diverse musicality upon its release. Notably, the EP served as the follow-up to the “Enigma” EP with Tarsem Jassar.

The five-track project transitioned from Jassar’s hard-hitting rhythms between Punjabi Hip-Hop and Pop Folk and delved deeper into affecting old-school rap. Patar further cemented the underlying Hip-Hop across the album with his groovy ad-libs.

Look out for the ‘Back To School’ EP by Wazir Patar.
