Atlanta’s legendary emcee, songwriter and business mogul Young Thug, born Jeffrey Lamar Williams, has released his third studio album “Business is Business”.
Executive produced by ATL’s superproducer Metro Boomin, the 15-track studio album features guest verses by OVO’s Drake, Atlanta’s rap pioneer Future, 21 Savage, Houston’s Travis Scott, Philadelphia’s Lil Uzi Vert and Young Stoner Life affiliates BSlime & Lil Gotit and Nate Ruess.
The LP arrives amidst Young Thug’s pro-longed incarceration at Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail.
The iconic emcee, who has been indicted under the flagrant Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, oftentimes referred to as “RICO” charges, was arrested in May last year and hasn’t put out new music ever since.
That has changed for now.
For his third LP, which arrives after an exact week after Gunna released his 4th studio album “A Gift & A Curse”, Thugger has recruited some of Hip-Hop’s most influential emcees and teamed up with marquee record producers David & Eli, Wheezy, Aviator Keyyz, Kid Masterpiece, D Rich, Dr. Luke, FNZ, F1lthy, Allen Ritter, Dre Moon, Southside and more.

Last week, Thugger announced the LP in a ruthless manner. Minutes after Gunna released his first LP since prison release, the “Business is Business” bar code began to show up across social media led by Young Thug himself. The infamous move disrupted the hype around Gunna’s massive return after a long hiatus.
The unique QR code, which navigated Thugger’s listeners worldwide to a countdown slated to end today, was further reshared by numerous Hip-Hop superstars including Drake, Lil Durk, Coi Leray, 21 Savage and superproducers Metro Boomin and Wheezy.
For many, the LP is an incendiary statement against Gunna. The rapper, who was released from prison after taking the “Alford Plea”, stands accused of “snitching” against the YSL bossman and his longtime friend Young Thug.
Upon his release, Gunna drew scathing criticism from Philly’s legendary emcee Meek Mill and ATL’s very own Lil Baby. In fact, the criticism led to numerous African-American emcees distancing themselves from the “Drip Too Hard” rapper.
Whether Young Thug’s rap record is an audacious provocation against Gunna remains to be seen. It must be noted that Gunna has been advocating for Thugger’s prison ever since returning from jail.
