As anticipation for Top Dawg Entertainment affiliate Schoolboy Q’s 6th studio album “Blue Lips” rises, the iconic West Coast rapper and songwriter has just premiered two new singles titled “Blueslides” and “Back In Love”.

The singles are produced by TaeBeast, Mario Luciano & Jason Wool and Devin Malik respectively and will feature on Q’s forthcoming album.

Further, the “Hell of a Night” rapper remembers late American rapper Mac Miller on the “Blueslides” single. The records, which are Q’s first in nearly two years, are yet to feature on streaming platforms and arrive alongside two flagrant visual treatments.

The tracks, available for streaming for just 24 hours, are in downright contrast with each other. While “Blueslides” is a low-key jazz rap record which perhaps draws influence from Mac Miller’s debut studio album “Blue Slide Park”, “Back In Love” is reminiscent of Q’s breakthrough LP “Oxymoron”.

“I Lost a homeboy to the drugs, Man I ain’t tryin’ to go backwards,” Q raps on “Blueslides” remembering Miller who lost his life to drug abuse at just 26.

With the release of the two rap records, Q is nearing his first studio album in nearly 5 years.

Titled “Blue Lips”, the 17-track record is set to release on March 1st and will serve as the follow-up to “CrasH Talk” LP. Released in the summer of 2019 via Interscope Records, the album featured flagrant guest verses by Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Lil Baby, Gangsta Rap Pioneer YG, Ty Dolla $ign & 6Lack.

Notably, Q’s album arrives amidst various TDE artists gearing up for numerous “projects” this year.

As per Top Dawg Entertainment, Grammy-winning R&B singer SZA, Jay Rock, Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, “LOVE.” singer Zacari, SiR, Ray Vaughn, Doechii, Kal Banx, Devin Malik and Lance Skiiiwalker will drop studio albums this year.

Look out for “Blue Lips” by Schoolboy Q on March 1st 2024.
