Indian Hip-Hop superstar Emiway Bantai has announced a new rap record. Titled “Chhod Dala”, the track is slated to release on April 22nd 2023 and arrives on Eid. The rapper, who recently linked up with Indian Hip-Hop pioneer Yo Yo Honey Singh, has announced the track amidst high anticipation.
Bantai took to Instagram to unveil the exclusive artwork and release date. Have a look below.
The announcement has stirred massive waves across Twitter and Hip-Hop communities on Reddit.
Reportedly, the ‘Hard Drive Vol. 1’ emcee has been quite vocal against Yo Yo Honey Singh on Twitter. Earlier today, Raftaar accused the former ‘Mafia Mundeer’ affiliate of unfair business practices against the songwriters of two of his cult rap records – “Brown Rang” written by Badshah and “Issey Kehte Hai Hip-Hop” written by the latter’s protégé Lil Golu. It includes not crediting Badshah and Lil Golu as songwriters on the two records.
With Emiway Bantai giving his flowers to the legendary rapper just two days ago, Hip-Hop listeners have begun speculating whether Bantai’s announcement might lead to heat and even a “diss.”
Bantai and Raftaar went through an incendiary prolonged beef in 2018. The impacts of those flagrant back-to-back disses at the time are still felt across the Hip-Hop scene in India.
The brutal exchange almost five years ago resulted in another rap rivalry between Kalamkaar’s Kr$na and Bantai himself. Raftaar, who is the Delhi-based record label’s bossman, recently gave his flowers to Karma. The Dehradun-based emcee reportedly “parted ways” with the label after a long association.
Bantai’s upcoming record serves as the follow-up to “Scene Change”. Swerving on the streets of Dubai, Bantai honoured his far-reaching influence on the Indian rap scene and how he has changed it for the better. Considering the young rapper’s impact on the genre across the globe, this doesn’t come off as controversial or self-assuring.
Further, Yo Yo Honey Singh is swerving through influential rap stardom with the release of “Naagan”. The self-produced record serves as the lead single to his highly anticipated LP “Honey 3.0.”
Reportedly, the single marks the return of the “old Yo Yo” referring to Honey Singh’s releases during the early days of his career. Considered the golden age of Punjabi Hip-Hop in India, the legendary emcee released cult rap records including “Brown Rang”, “Dope Shope” and the “International Villager” LP at the time.
Look out for Emiway Bantai’s highly anticipated record this Eid.
